Join members of Arizona Opera’s Marion Roose Pullin Opera Studio for a delightful end-of-season concert featuring selections from Candide (Bernstein), I Capuleti e I Montecchi (The Capulets and the Montagues) (Bellini), The Pearl Fishers (Bizet), La Rondine (Puccini), and Hansel and Gretel (Humperdinck).
Among the talented group of performers are Cheyenne Coss (soprano), Rob McGinness (baritone), Caitlin Gotimer (soprano), Terrence Chin-Loy (tenor), and Mack Wolz (mezzo soprano). Maris and Robert Bosworth provide the piano accompaniment.

Nadir has betrayed the pact between himself and Zurga that renounced their love for the same woman, Leïla, in favor of their friendship. Years later, Nadir and Leïla have reciprocated their love and, feeling betrayed, Zurga sentences them to death. In this duet, Leïla goes to Zurga to plead for Nadir’s life.

Magda and Ruggero live happily together but Magda still feels guilty about keeping her past as a courtesan a secret from Ruggero. When Ruggero says he’s written to his mother about marrying her, Magda tells him the truth and says she could never be his wife then leaves him.

The siblings, Hansel and Gretel, are sent into the forest by their Mother for strawberries despite its dangers. To calm the frightened children, the Sandman put grains in their eyes and the siblings sing a prayer before they fall asleep on the forest floor.
